day 4 post-op update | by Roanna

Good news Dad was moved to a new room that's not in ICU.
The doctors were able to remove the trach.  Now he will just wait for that area to heal.  It does make it difficult to talk, but that doesn't stop him from cracking jokes.
The area on his back where they removed skin, fat, muscle is really sore.  But the area on his face is accepting that skin flap really well.

When I see or hear about all of the hourly, daily things that our Dad is going through to heal the word COURAGEOUS keeps coming to mind.
He is strong & courageous because God is with him everywhere he goes.

"This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."  Joshua 1:9

Blessings,
Roanna

  1. Strong and courageous.......he is all that and more. We are so very glad to hear and read that things are going well for Steve. Hundreds of people....all around the world....have been lifting your dad up in prayer through the surgery and recovery, and it appears that our great Lord has been pleased to hear and also to answer all of those petitions made for him. Continued prayers are being spoken on his behalf. Thank you for taking the time to share these updates, as so many people are sincerely concerned about Steve and grateful to see how he is doing.

  2. I am so glad to hear this wonderful news!! And I am sure he is very glad to have the trach removed. Much easier to breathe. And prayerfully it will be much easier for everything once his body has healed. I will continue to pray for Steve's continued progress. Well wishes to him and the Kuenkel family!!!
