Steve's email from [[12.31.13]]

"The emergency eye exam went well this morning. It was amazing they got me in on such short notice and with the holidays. The prognosis this morning was pretty alarming. The tumor has spread into my left eye and eye lids. The concern is how deep the tumor has gone (sinuses, brain, etc). They have scheduled an MRI for Thursdayafternoon to get an image of how extensive the tumor is.
Once the MRI is done they will want to do surgery (pretty aggressive surgery) to remove the tumor. This could also include (most likely) removing my left eye.  The doctor said there is little hope to save the eye but they will try, hard to tell at this time. His concern is the tumor not getting to the brain, which of course, would be fatal.

So, this news is far more discouraging than we anticipated but waiting even longer could have had worse implications. This is also the human side of this challenge. Our Lord said that faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for and the EVIDENCE of things not seen. He said that He is able to do exceeding abundantly more than we ask or think. He is either the God of the bible or He is not. He is either the God of miracles or He is not. He can either be trusted or not. We choose yes, He is. Will you please join with me to believe God will be magnified in mine and your life? Sandy and I covet your prayers intensely.
We are praying that everything I have been doing for 9 months will have had a positive effect of keeping the tumor from going deep. We are praying even more so that God will touch my body and remove this tumor and restore my eyesight before any surgery. There would be no doubt who gets the glory then! We pray for healing, wisdom, peace, and His joy in this trial.  We serve a great Saviour!!!

I wish I had better news but I thank you in advance for your prayers and concern!

  1. Steve and Sandy, I have been praying for you and will, of course, continue to do so. I know God can heal you like He did our little Wesley. I know this time for you is difficult and stressful but every time I see Sandy she still has a smile on her beautiful face! Her happiness comes from the Lord. May God provide you peace, understanding, comfort and hope during this time. May He provide your doctors with knowledge and clear minds. We love you and stay strong!
